Former Deputy Mayor of Liverpool City Council has not lost any form at the recent community forum. In front of a full community hall, he wiped the floor of the Liberal Mayor Nader Muhammad Mannoun when he could not answer how much he was going to sell community land to a gaming machine establishment.
We asked him after the meeting why he was so concerned about Moorebank Sports Club purchasing community land “Almost two-thirds of Sydney’s gambling losses come from western Sydney, and with the cost-of-living crisis it is fueling problem gambling in Liverpool” Peter Ristevski stated outside the meeting.
“What is even more concerning is the fact Moorebank Sports Club was investigated for having a customer service strategy that puts staff under pressure to encourage Liverpool residents to spend more of their hard earned money than they had intended on poker machines”.
“Who authorised the $50 million joint promise by the Liberal mayor Ned and his wife, Liberal Holsworthy MP, to build an aquatic centre which involved the sale of public land to Moorebank Sports.
I know after speaking to the non-Liberal councillors that this was never authorised and I will be writing to the ICAC to conduct an investigation into this” Ristevski stated.
We spoke to a few residents that were present at the community forum and a lot of them said it’s great to see Ristevski back.
In true form, Ristevski told the packed gallery that the Liberal mayor was not financially competent to manage a council budget of $250 million, when his own company was placed into liquidation for not paying its debts.
We asked him if he will be running for mayor of Liverpool at the September elections “ I will be making an announcement soon, and I think everyone will be very happy”.
